At a meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan on January 14, preparations for the upcoming election campaigns were discussed.
The meeting was attended by CEC members, senior officials from the central bodies of the Democratic Party, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Agrarian Party, public organizations and associations across the country, and media representatives.
The main item on the agenda was the announcement of the start of the election campaign on January 15. The delineation of constituency and precinct boundaries was also discussed, and the composition of the current district and precinct commissions was analyzed.
Guidelines and instructions for participants in the electoral process were also approved, and a series of training seminars for commission members are planned.
Among the priority tasks, meeting participants identified ensuring transparency and a broad range of alternatives in elections, as well as conducting appropriate public awareness campaigns. It was noted that the upcoming elections will be another important step in implementing large-scale political reforms during the year, whose motto is “Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan—the Homeland of Winged Horses.”
To ensure high-level preparation for the upcoming campaign, the Central Election Commission approved a calendar of events for its preparation and implementation.
Let us remind you that in accordance with the Resolution of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, on March 29, elections will be held for members of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Altyn Asyr etrap of the Ahal velayat, Garashsyzlyk, Gubadag etraps of the Dashoguz welayat, Dovletli etrap, Farab, Garabekewul etraps of the Lebap welayat, Oguzkhan etrap of the Mary welayat, and in connection with the early expiration of the term of office of the Mejlis deputies in electoral districts No. 74 “Amyderýa”, No. 79 “Darganata” of the Lebap welayat, No. 104 “Peşanaly” and No. 106 “Wekil” of the Mary velayat, as well as members of welayat, etrap, city Halk maslakhaty and gengeshes.
