The first meeting of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan (FFT) Referees’ Committee, organized by the federation’s Referees’ Department, took place in the conference hall of the Kopetdag Sports Complex in the capital of Turkmenistan. This event marked an important step toward training young referees and raising the overall level of refereeing in the country.
A number of key issues were discussed during the meeting. First, the newly appointed committee members were briefed on the goals, objectives, and primary responsibilities of the FFT Referees’ Department and Referees’ Committee. Work aimed at attracting young men and women to refereeing in the country’s regions was also discussed.
Particular attention was paid to developing an action plan to improve the quality of refereeing at competitions held under the auspices of the FFT. Participants also discussed the approval of a list of referees and the organization of oversight of their activities for the 2026 Turkmenistan Premier League Championship, youth championships, and matches of the Turkmenistan Cup and FFT Cup.
Separately, proposals were put forward to re-take tests to assess the level of physical fitness of referees.
The Secretary General of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, Serdar Geldiyev, and the head of the referee department, Charymyrat Gurbanov, and other members of the referee committee attended the meeting.
