An academic conference dedicated to modern methods of studying Turkmen literature and cultural heritage was held in Ashgabat, according to the country’s International Information Center.
The event, organized by the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature, and National Manuscripts, brought together leading scholars, philologists, and historians. The forum’s main topic was the study of Turkmenistan’s literary heritage in the context of its independence.
Institute Director Davut Orazsahedov noted that the development of new technologies is leading to a qualitative renewal of academic research in the field of Turkmen culture. Particular attention is paid to the restoration and digitization of ancient manuscripts, which opens up new opportunities for preserving this unique heritage.
A key role in the conference was played by the book “Hakyda Göwheri” by National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which researchers consider a valuable source for interpreting ancient texts and analyzing the cultural traditions of the Turkmen people. Conference participants also discussed the contributions of Eastern thinkers, such as Mahmud Zamakhshari, to the development of Turkmen literature.
Particular attention was paid to the preservation and promotion of ancient words and expressions of the Turkmen language, which can be restored with the help of new etymological dictionaries. This is important for bringing forgotten lexemes back into everyday language and thereby enriching modern Turkmen culture.
The conference marked a significant step in the scientific and cultural life of Turkmenistan, strengthening international cooperation and emphasizing the importance of preserving historical and literary heritage for future generations.
