On May 12, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in a meeting of the Turkmen-Saudi Inter-parliamentary friendship group, was held via videoconference.
During the meeting, the participants were introduced to the main directions of Turkmenistan’s internal and external policy, based on the principles of positive neutrality, peacefulness, equality, humanism, mutually beneficial cooperation, to the structure of the Mejlis, as well as to the multifaceted work carried out to ensure the legal basis for the program reforms being implemented in the country. The importance of equal and mutually beneficial relations, consistently developing between Turkmenistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was also noted.
Currently, Turkmen-Saudi relations, based on a solid foundation of mutual respect and trust, are acquiring new meaning and content. At the same time, the commonality of spiritual and moral values that unite the two fraternal peoples, demonstrating commitment to their ancient traditions that have developed over the course of history, is of particular importance.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of developing and strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries, improving interregional cooperation and partnership within the framework of international organizations, and expressed mutual opinions in this direction.
The participants were also introduced with the Development Program of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia until 2030 and the intended goals, in connection with which the parties expressed confidence that friendly inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries will contribute to strengthening and bringing to a qualitatively new level multilateral mutually beneficial cooperation, characterized by enormous power.
