According to the Russian Field research center, the most significant book for Russians under 30 was George Orwell’s novel “1984.” Young respondents also named Leo Tolstoy’s “War and Peace,” the Harry Potter series, Ivan Turgenev’s “Fathers and Sons,” the Bible, and the Constitution among their most important works.
Among the overall age group, “War and Peace” took first place, followed by Nikolai Ostrovsky’s “How the Steel Was Tempered” and Mikhail Bulgakov’s “The Master and Margarita.”
Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s “The Gulag Archipelago” ranked 15th, and the Quran 17th.
