The new season of the Turkmenistan Football Championship among Premier League teams begins on April 4. 8 clubs will participate in the four-round tournament: Arkadag, Ahal, Altyn Asyr, Shagadam, Nebitchi, Ashgabat, Merv, and Kopetdag.
The first and second round matches of the national championship are scheduled for the period from April 4 to June 20. The third and fourth round matches will take place in the second half of the season.
In the opening round, which will take place on April 4, the first teams to take to the field will be Akhal and Kopetdag, followed by Shagadam and Nebitchi. The following day, on April 5, the teams will play Arkadag vs. Merv and Altyn Asyr vs. Ashgabat.
As a reminder, last season’s national champion was Arkadag. Silver went to Akhal, and bronze went to the capital’s Altyn Asyr.
In addition, the Turkmenistan Championship among youth teams of the Major League clubs starts on April 3.
The youth championship, like the main tournament, will feature eight teams, and will be played in four rounds. Youth team games will be played on a home-and-away basis, typically a day before the main team matches.
Let us recall that the winner of last season’s youth championship was Arkadag II.
The first round, which will be played on April 3 and 4, will feature matches between Ahal II and Kopetdag II, Shagadam II and Nebitchi II, Arkadag II and Merv II, and Altyn Asyr II and Ashgabat II.
