Today, on April 14, the 5th Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (OMOUS-2025) began at the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD).
The opening ceremony of the Olympiad was held in the conference hall of the IUHD, with the participation of organizers, representatives from the host university, guests, instructors, and students from Turkmenistan and various foreign countries.
This year, the Olympiad is hosting 552 students from 57 higher educational institutions in Turkmenistan and participating foreign countries. Participating countries include the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, India, Poland, and Romania, alongside Turkmenistan.
At the international Olympiad, students will compete in both individual and team events. The individual competition is divided into Categories A and B. Category A is for students majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. Category B is for students from other majors. In both categories, individuals will be given 6 problems and four hours (240 minutes) to solve them. For the team competition, groups of up to four students, regardless of their majors, will be given 10 problems and two hours (120 minutes) to solve them. The official languages of the Olympiad are Turkmen and English.
The Olympiad will conclude on April 18.
