During a working visit to the United States, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Bill Huizenga, Chairman of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Sidney Kai Kamlager-Dove, Deputy Chairman.
During the talks, the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation and strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between the countries. The President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of interaction with the United States in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres.
The head of state noted the 10th anniversary of the “C5+1” format, which brings together the United States and Central Asian countries to discuss security, economic, climate, and energy issues. Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s readiness to expand cooperation in this area.
They also discussed interaction with the U.S. Congress, including the exchange of legislative experience and the joint consideration of regional and international issues. The President recalled the recent visits of American legislators to Turkmenistan and measures to develop interparliamentary cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to the Turkmen-American business forum, held as part of the Turkmen delegation’s visit.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged hopes and expressed confidence in further strengthening their relations based on trust and mutual understanding.
