The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat summarized the results of the year-long training of national media literacy trainers, according to the country’s International Information Centre (IIC).
Representatives of government agencies, educational institutions, media outlets, and international organizations participated in the event. Experts from Kazakhstan joined online.
It was discussed that media literacy is an important part of public policy. It helps shape an information culture, increases resilience to disinformation, and teaches responsible use of digital resources.
Participants analyzed the year’s results and outlined a work plan for the next training period. The country conducted training programs and workshops for specialists in critical information analysis, source management, and media ethics.
National trainers presented their work and completed an interactive quiz to assess their competencies. The meeting resulted in recommendations for data verification and improved teaching methods.
A question-and-answer session allowed participants to discuss future prospects for this field. Work to improve the skills of specialists in Central Asian countries will continue, and the next expert meeting is planned for 2026.
