On December 16, the Third Meeting of the Heads of Parliament of the Central Asian States and the Republic of Korea was held in Tashkent.
The meeting was attended by Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; U Won-sik, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea; Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Aziz Giyozoda, Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan; Duishankul Chotonov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan; and representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event included an exchange of views on current issues related to the development of interparliamentary dialogue and the expansion of multilateral cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea.
During plenary sessions and thematic sessions, issues of deepening interparliamentary cooperation in the areas of social justice, environmental protection, climate change mitigation, sustainable use of natural resources, and improving environmental legislation were discussed.
Participants also noted that previous meetings held in Seoul in September 2023 and Ashgabat in October 2024 clearly demonstrated the relevance and demand for this format of interparliamentary interaction.
Following the meeting, a Joint Declaration of the Third Meeting of the Heads of Parliament of the Central Asian States and the Republic of Korea was adopted.
