The Turkmenistan national football team is holding a training camp in the capital ahead of a key away match against Thailand in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying round.
Under the leadership of head coach Rovshan Meredov, the team is training twice a day. This intensive preparation underscores the high importance of the upcoming match.
Playing in Group D, Turkmenistan currently holds first place in the standings with 12 points. Thailand also has 12 points, but Turkmenistan has the advantage on additional points. Our team won their previous match, a convincing 3-1 victory. The match took place at the Ashgabat Multifunctional Stadium in the capital.
The Sri Lankan team is in third place with 6 points, while the Chinese Taipei team, having not scored a single point, is at the bottom of the standings.
Turkmenistan will play its final group stage match away against Thailand on March 31, 2026.
As a reminder, the group winners will receive a direct ticket to the final stage of the 2027 Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia.
