The Turkmenistan national football team will play its third match in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying tournament against Sri Lanka, as reported by the tff.com.tm.
The third round of Group D will take place on October 9 at the 10,000-seat Colombo Racecourse Stadium in Colombo. Kickoff is at 15:15 with Ashgabat time.
The Turkmenistan national team, coached by Rovshan Meredov, is training twice a day in preparation for the important match. Theoretical sessions are held in the morning at The Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo, where the team is staying, and tactical training takes place in the afternoon at the Kelaniya Football Complex.
According to the draw, the Turkmenistan team was placed in Group D with the teams of Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Sri Lanka. The national team had a successful start to the qualifying tournament, winning two of their two matches (a 2-1 victory over Taipei and a 3-1 victory over Thailand). This puts the team comfortably at the top of their group with six points.
The Turkmenistan national team will play six matches in the qualifying round: five in 2025 and one in March 2026. The group winners will guarantee their participation in the Asian Cup finals, which will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2027.
