In February 2026, the next meeting of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, focused on strengthening peace, security, and sustainable development, will be held at UN Headquarters.
Currently, the platform unites 29 states. In 2025, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and the Kingdom of Eswatini joined, demonstrating growing interest in neutrality as a tool for international cooperation.
Initiated by Turkmenistan, the Group of Friends of Neutrality functions as a multilateral platform under the auspices of the UN, where practical approaches to utilizing the peacekeeping potential of neutral countries in global and regional processes are discussed.
In accordance with established procedures, meetings at the level of permanent representatives are held in New York at least twice a year, and meetings of foreign ministers are organized annually. The first ambassadorial meeting took place in August 2020, and the inaugural ministerial session was held in December 2022 in Ashgabat.
