The Russian ruble has demonstrated its strongest appreciation over the past 12 months since 1994, surpassing the exchange rates of major currencies against the dollar in 2025, according to Bloomberg.
“This year, the Russian ruble has outperformed all major currencies against the dollar, which has caught policymakers off guard,” the report states.
The report indicates that the ruble has strengthened by 45% since the beginning of the year. One of the reasons for this result is “tight monetary policy.”
On Tuesday, Spartak Sobolev, head of investment strategy research at Alfa-Forex, reported that this week, exchange rate fluctuations are expected to range between 75.5 and 81.5 rubles per dollar, 89 and 95 rubles per euro, and 10.7 and 11.5 rubles per yuan.
Garda Capital stock market expert Kirill Seleznev previously told Gazeta.Ru that the dollar exchange rate comfortable for Russian citizens ranges from 23 to 45 rubles.
