California startup JetZero has chosen North Carolina to build its plant for the production of its advanced JetZero Z4 airliners. The new site will most likely appear near the Piedmont Triad Airport in Greensboro.
The company is working on the Z4 aircraft, a medium-range airliner for 200-250 people with a range of about 9,300 km. It has an unusual shape – the wing is fused with the fuselage. This design, according to calculations, will reduce fuel consumption by half compared to conventional aircraft. In terms of its characteristics, the JetZero Z4 will surpass the Boeing 737 Max 10: it has more passenger capacity and a longer flight range.
The US Air Force and Northrop Grumman support the project. The first prototype of the JetZero Z4 is expected to take to the air by 2027, with commercial flights after 2030. United Airlines may become the first operator of the future aircraft.
