The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Honduras declared Nasri Asfura, a representative of the National Party, backed by US President Donald Trump, the winner of the presidential election.
Asfura received 40.3% of the vote, narrowly beating his rival from the center-right Liberal Party, Salvador Nasralla, who received 39.5%. “Honduras, I am ready to govern. I will not let you down,” Asfura wrote on November 30, but the vote count was delayed twice due to technical issues.
