The Turkmen feature film “Composer” has been nominated for the prestigious Open Eurasian Film Award “Diamond Butterfly.”
Created by the Oguzkhan Türkmenfilm studio, the film will compete for the title of “Best Production Designer,” and the talented Meylis Khudaiberenov is among the nominees.
This film award, already unofficially dubbed the “Eurasian Oscar,” was established by the Eurasian Academy of Cinematographic Arts with the support of the Russian government. The award, held for the first time, aims to strengthen cultural ties and promote films that reflect the shared values and moral compass of the peoples of Eurasia.
More than 34 films from 20 countries, including Russia, China, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, are competing. The Diamond Butterfly Award boasts an impressive prize fund: the winner of the Best Film category will receive 1 million dollar, while winners in the other categories will receive 250,000 dollar each.
The awards ceremony will take place on November 27, and winners in 12 categories will be announced, including Best Director, Best Actor, and a special prize for “Contribution to World Cinema.” The awards ceremony will feature a unique butterfly statuette adorned with thousands of diamonds.
The film “Composer” was created with the support of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Children in Need of Care.
