Students of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan won the highest prizes in the international competition called the World Sustainable Development Goals Competition – 2025 (WSDG 2025), organized jointly by the Malaysian Multimedia University and the Malaysian Association of Young Scientists. More than 2,100 scientific works from 15 countries of the world – Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Romania, Brazil, El Salvador, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, India and Palestine – participated in this prestigious competition. In such a large-scale international competition, the research work “Scientific foundations of green cement production for sustainable development” prepared by Suleymanmuhammet Shamuhammedov, a 4th year student of the university’s chemical engineering department, was awarded a gold medal and the highest award of the competition, the “WSDG Innovation Grand Award”. This research work developed scientific foundations related to reducing the environmental impact of cement production, which is widely used in the modern construction industry, efficient use of energy, and the introduction of environmentally friendly production methods. This work of the young scientist was highly appreciated by the world’s leading scientific organizations and recognized as an important solution in the field of sustainable development.
The research work “Innovative technology for obtaining clean gypsum from industrial waste phosphogypsum” prepared by Aymyrat Khalnazarov, a 3rd year student of the university’s chemical technology department, and Jemal Sharipova, a 3rd year student of the chemical engineering department, also participated in the competition. This work was also awarded a gold medal and a special award of the competition, the “Best Innovation Sustainable Award”. The winning team was led by Atamyrat Altyyev, a senior lecturer at the Department of Applied Chemistry of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, Candidate of Technical Sciences.
