At a meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Committee in Vienna, Seyitguly Bayseidov, Director of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, presented Turkmenistan’s achievements in creating sustainable transport infrastructure, according to the country’s International Information Center.
The port became the first on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea to receive the international EcoPort certificate from the European Sea Ports Organization (ESPO). This status confirms compliance with environmental standards and the implementation of Turkmenistan’s National Climate Change Strategy.
This achievement is the result of the introduction of energy-saving technologies, the use of electrical equipment, and the installation of bio-treatment systems to protect the Caspian ecosystem. The project is being implemented with the support of the OSCE as part of the “Promotion of Green Ports” program.
In Vienna, Bayseidov discussed new areas of cooperation in the field of “green” logistics and digital trade systems with Bakyt Dzhusupov, Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities.
