From August 13 to 17, 2025, a Turkmen delegation consisting of specialists from the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan paid a working visit to Canada, as reported iirmfa.edu.tm.
The main goal of the visit was to develop cooperation between higher educational institutions, exchange experience in relevant fields, and discuss new joint projects. During the visit, the Turkmen delegation became acquainted with the educational and methodological work of leading Canadian universities and exchanged experience in such areas as journalism, media technologies, and information management.
The delegation also met with the heads of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). In addition, a meeting was held with Professor Kaveh Madani, Director of the United Nations Institute for Water, Environment and Health, and professors from the Department of International Business. Another meeting took place with Professor Taieb Hafsi at the United Nations University, with three professors from Canadian universities joining virtually.
During the meetings with Canadian colleagues, new areas of cooperation were discussed, including the organization of joint training courses and the creation of internship programs for students. As a result of the visit, initiatives were put forward to strengthen cooperation in the education systems of both countries, expand the exchange of experience in journalism, and organize international-level training courses for students.
