A cultural and culinary event organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Turkmenistan was held at the Yyldyz Hotel in the capital. The event was aimed at introducing the culture, music and national cuisine of Pakistan.
The Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkmenistan Faryal Leghari, and the Turkmen side by the Minister of Culture Atageldy Shamyradov represented the Pakistani side at the event. The heads of diplomatic missions of various countries also attended the event.
In her speech, Ambassador Faryal Leghari congratulated Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of Neutrality, noting the coincidence of this date with the declaration of 2025 by the United Nations as the International Year of Peace and Trust. The diplomat emphasized that former President Saparmurat Niyazov at the ECO Summit in Islamabad first proposed the policy of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan in 1995.
Noting the deep historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, the Ambassador drew attention to the common heritage of Sufi thought and spiritual ties.
Faryal Leghari proposed joint work to strengthen cultural exchanges between the two countries. Among the proposed areas of cooperation, she named joint art exhibitions, exchange of artists, cooperation in the field of textiles and fashion, a mix of culinary traditions, poetry performances, film screenings and concerts.
Minister of Culture Atageldy Shamyradov thanked for the organized reception and noted the similarity of Pakistani and Turkmen culture and cuisine. He emphasized that Turkmen cultural figures actively perform Pakistani songs and translate them into the Turkmen language.
As part of the event, guests were presented with various dishes of Pakistani cuisine. The evening was accompanied by musical performances, during which Turkmen musicians and singers performed Pakistani compositions.
