The First Regional Conference and the first meeting of the Regional Coordination Council for the One Health project “One Health for Pandemic Prevention, Sustainable Food Systems, and Healthy Ecosystems in Central Asia” were held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on October 29–31.
Representatives of the governments and relevant ministries of Central Asian countries, international organizations, and development partners participated in this high-level event.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan represented Turkmenistan at the conference.
At the plenary session of the conference, Arslan Soltanmyradov, Head of the Department of International and Scientific Relations of the State Veterinary Service, delivered a report on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan. In his speech, he emphasized that under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, the esteemed Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the country is consistently implementing a sustainable development policy, placing particular emphasis on public health, wildlife conservation, and environmental safety.
Mr. A.Soltanmyradov noted that the “One Health” concept aims to ensure food safety, prevent zoonotic diseases, and strengthen veterinary and sanitary well-being in the country. He also emphasized that Turkmenistan is actively developing interagency and regional cooperation in this area.
The conference became an important platform for exchanging experiences and coordinating joint actions between countries in the region to create effective mechanisms for cooperation in protecting human, animal, and environmental health. The meetings discussed the formation and functioning of the Regional Coordination Council, as well as the creation of thematic technical working groups aimed at providing expert and analytical support for the project’s implementation.
Participants at the event highly praised Turkmenistan’s contribution to the development of the “One Health” concept and expressed confidence that the joint work of Central Asian countries will make a significant contribution to ensuring global biological and food security.
