The Turkmenistan national football team defeated the Thailand team in a home match of the second round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying round.
The Group D match ended with a score of 3:1. The winners’ goals were scored by Mikhail Titov (1st minute), Ikhlas Saparmammedov (37th) and Mekan Saparov (66th). Supachai Chaided (35) scored the visiting team’s goal.
In another match of the group, the Sri Lankan team defeated the Chinese Taipei team 3:1 on their home field.
After this victory, the Turkmenistan team with 6 points scored takes first place in the group. The Thailand and Sri Lanka teams scored 3 points each.
In the next round, the Turkmenistan team will play away against the Thailand team on October 9.
Let us recall that, following the draw, the Turkmenistan team ended up in Group D, where the teams of Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Sri Lanka also compete.
In the first round, the national team of Turkmenistan won away against Chinese Taipei with a score of 2:1. Thailand, in turn, won against Sri Lanka 1:0.
In total, the Turkmenistan national team will play 6 matches in the qualifying round: five in 2025 and one in March 2026. The group winners will guarantee their participation in the final part of the Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2027.
