A delegation from Turkmenistan, consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Culture and the National Commission for UNESCO, participated in a seminar and conference on “Strengthening the Potential for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in Central Asia,” held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, according to the website medeniyet.gov.tm.
The Turkmen delegation actively participated in discussions and practical exercises aimed at improving mechanisms for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage.
The UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty organized the conference with the participation of delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Participants reviewed updated application forms for inclusion on the List of Properties in Need of Urgent Safeguarding and discussed successful practices from other countries.
A visit to the Kazakh Oner craft center in Almaty was also part of the conference.
The seminar marked an important step in strengthening cooperation among Central Asian countries in the field of intangible cultural heritage preservation, implementing international standards for the safeguarding of cultural heritage, and sharing best practices.
