A critical stage of oil production modernization has been completed at Goturdepe, one of Turkmenistan’s largest and oldest fields, the country’s International Information Center (I IC) reported.
As part of a large-scale infrastructure upgrade, cutting-edge gas-lift equipment was introduced, significantly increasing the flow rate of over 400 wells, ensuring stable production growth.
The modernization began with the construction and commissioning of a new gas compressor station (GCS) with a capacity of 12 million cubic meters of gas per day. This high-tech station became the heart of the project, enabling an efficient transition to gas-lift technology, which allows compressed gas to be pumped into wells to lift oil. This approach dramatically improves the stability and rate of production.
The project was made possible by the collaboration of engineers from the Nebitgazçykaryş trust and scientists from the Oil and Gas Institute, which enabled the rapid implementation of scientific developments and rationalization proposals into actual production. This not only strengthens Goturdepe’s resource base but also stimulates the development of Turkmenistan’s entire oil and gas industry.
The successful modernization of a field in the west of the country demonstrates Turkmenistan’s commitment to innovation and high-tech development, which contributes to strengthening its energy security and increasing its export potential.
Turkmenistan continues to move toward sustainable growth and technological breakthroughs, transforming traditional extraction methods into advanced systems capable of ensuring the country’s economic prosperity for decades to come.
