At a government meeting on January 16, Deputy Prime Minister M.Chakyyev reported on the measures being taken by the agencies under his supervision to further develop the transport and logistics system, strengthen the country’s transit potential, and enhance its position in international transport corridors.
As reported, the Ashgabat–Turkmenbashi railway, which is strategically important for Turkmenistan’s socioeconomic development, connects various parts of the country with the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and serves as a key link in coordinating national railways with the international transport corridors Lapis Lazuli, TRACECA, North–South, and East–West. Therefore, the comprehensive modernization of the Ashgabat–Turkmenbashi railway is a key priority.
A corresponding proposal was submitted to the head of state for his consideration.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the effective progress being made in developing the country’s transport and logistics system and increasing its transit potential.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the Ashgabat–Turkmenbashi railway for Turkmenistan’s socioeconomic development, the head of state approved the proposal to modernize it. The Deputy Prime Minister was instructed to lead the work in this direction.
