Employees of the Morinzhgeologiya Group of Service Enterprises climbed the western and eastern peaks of Elbrus and installed the national flag of Turkmenistan at the highest points of Europe on the eve of the 34th anniversary of the republic’s independence, as reported by the turkmenistan.gov.tm.
The climbers conquered the western peak at 5,642 m and the eastern peak at 5,621 m. Between them there is a saddle at an altitude of 5,416 m. Both peaks are covered with snow all year round, which creates the characteristic appearance of “gray” Elbrus – an ancient dormant volcano formed about a million years ago.
The experienced climbers have successful expeditions to the highest peaks of all continents behind them. In 2011, they climbed Greater Ararat (5,165 m), in 2014 they conquered Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) and Meru (4,562 m) in Tanzania. In 2018, the team climbed Aconcagua in the Andes (6,961 m) on the border of Argentina and Chile, as well as Mont Blanc (4,810 m) on the border of France and Italy.
In 2019, the climbers reached the “roof of the world” – the summit of Chomolungma (Everest) at 8,848 m on the border of China and Nepal. In 2024, they conquered one of the most technically difficult peaks on the planet – K2 (Chogori) at 8,611 m in the Karakoram mountain range on the border of China and Pakistan. The flag of Turkmenistan was planted on all conquered peaks.
