Yesterday the concert of classical Indian songs and dance performances held at the “Watan” cinema center. This cultural event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of India together with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture of Turkmenistan. The hall filled with the fans of songs from popular Bollywood films and Indian folk dances.
At the opening ceremony, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the friendly country, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, noted that such cultural events further strengthen the friendly relations of peoples, emphasizing that they give a new energy to cooperation between Turkmenistan and India in the International Year of Peace and Trust.
At the concert, SRGS group performed several national Indian folk dances. Among them are the folk dance “Ganesh Vandana”, which symbolizes peace, freedom and properity, and the folk dance “Lavani”, which is a form of folk dance of the Indian states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and northern Karnataka. In addition, the folk dance “Goomar”, which is popular in different regions of India and has its historical origins in the palaces of the kingdom of Rajasthan, is performed especially during the “Holi” festival of colors and other occasions. In addition, famous dance performances “Bhangra” and “Gidha” from the state of Punjab, the land of five rivers, and the folk dance “Dandiya” from the state of Gujarat, located in the west of the country. After the program in Ashgabat the SRGS group also have gone to participate in the international dance and folklore festival “Avaza – the Land of Friendship”, which will last until June 7 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
