Today, the grand opening of the VI Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (OMOUS-2026) was held at the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD). Bringing together talented young minds from both Turkmenistan and abroad, this intellectual competition aims to strengthen international academic cooperation and reveal the analytical potential of the youth.
In the morning, participants and guests gathered in the foyer of the University for a Commemorative Group Photograph. The celebrations then transitioned to the university’s conference hall. The Rector of the university and distinguished guests delivered welcoming remarks, wishing the participants success and emphasizing the great importance placed on developing the science and education sectors in Turkmenistan.
This year, 196 students and 45 instructors represented the event from the Federal Republic of Germany, the Hellenic Republic (Greece), Hungary, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Russian Federation, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan. From the higher educational institutions of our country, 361 students and 26 instructors participated.
Then the first stage of the competition — the individual — competition began. According to the established regulations, the Olympiad is conducted in two main categories. Category A includes students specializing in Mathematics and Computer Science. Category B brings together students studying non-mathematical majors, such as engineering, technology, economics, and humanities. In addition to the individual contests, students will also test their skills in team-based competitions.
The solutions of the young competitors are evaluated by a prestigious panel of jury members, consisting of experienced professors and lecturers from leading Turkmen and foreign higher educational institutions.
The VI Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students at the International University for the Humanities and Development continues until 28 March. High-achieving youth will be honored with medals and certificates at the closing ceremony.
