On February 11, the Ashgabat Olympic Stadium will host a match in the AFC Champions League Round of 16. Turkmen football club Arkadag will play Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr. Extensive preparations are underway in the capital to ensure comfortable conditions for athletes and spectators, according to the country’s International Information Center.
Five hundred students from the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports are involved in organizing the match. Among them are 15 linguists to work with foreign delegations and referees, and 15 future sports journalists. Fifty faculty members from the institute are supervising the volunteers.
Training seminars on sports protocol, safety, spectator relations, and service standards were held to prepare for the match. Volunteers were also trained in emergency response procedures.
The State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, together with the Football Federation, are continuing the final organization of the match. The preparations of the volunteers and the stadium confirm Ashgabat’s readiness to host international sporting events.
