A championship among students of the Sports School of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports was held in Ashgabat at the Winter Sports Complex. More than 40 young figure skaters aged 6 to 17 participated in the competition. The tournament was organized with the support of the National Winter Sports Center, according to the country’s MIC.
The program included short and free skates. The boys and girls demonstrated the technique of complex elements and their artistry. Each appearance on the ice created a complete artistic story. The skaters confidently executed jump and spin cascades, earning high marks from the judges. The experts noted the diversity of styles—from classical to contemporary productions.
The music and costumes enhanced the drama of the performances, creating a festive atmosphere. Following the competition, 28 winners and runners-up were determined, and 12 participants received incentive awards. All winners were awarded medals and certificates of honor.
Amangeldy Atanepesov, Deputy Director of the Sports School, reported that over 100 athletes are training at the school. He noted that the current championship demonstrated the rise of Turkmen figure skating to a new level. Improving training to international standards allows the school to prepare athletes who can represent the country at major international tournaments.
