On October 24, 2025, the Youth Dialogue dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, and the International Year of Peace and Trust was held at the National Library of Dushanbe.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Tajikistan jointly with the UN Permanent Mission to Tajikistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Committee on Youth and Sports of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The forum brought together government officials, international organizations, diplomats, and young people from Tajikistan, highlighting the forum’s relevance and the commitment of youth to peace and mutual understanding.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Tajikistan, A. Gochmyradov, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening, emphasizing that the UN anniversary and the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust place particular importance on developing cooperation between young people from different countries.

It was noted that the current year holds particular significance for Turkmenistan, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the recognition of its permanent neutrality – a unique international legal status declared in the UN General Assembly Resolution of December 12, 1995, and subsequently reaffirmed three times by the international community. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan’s neutrality is not only the foundation of its foreign policy but also a philosophy of peaceful coexistence, trust, and good neighborly relationship.

It was also noted that at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the Highly Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov put forward a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening global peace and trust, including the establishment of International Mediation Day, aimed to highlight the importance of diplomacy and neutral platforms in the prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

In her speech, the UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Ms. Parvati Ramaswami, commended Turkmenistan’s contribution to promoting the principles of neutrality and trust. She noted that Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality serves as an example of a peaceful and constructive approach to international relations, and the initiative to declare 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust contributes to strengthening dialogue and mutual understanding among nations.

Youth representatives took an active part in the dialogue, including interns from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In their presentations, they described the role of youth in strengthening a culture of peace and trust, as well as Turkmenistan’s contribution to the implementation of UN initiatives.

During the discussions, special attention was given to the role of the policy of neutrality in strengthening international partnerships, as well as to Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the United Nations in achieving common goals of peace and sustainable development.
