Turkmenistan has begun accepting submissions for the 8th Mahmud Kashgarly International Short Story Competition, as reported by medeniyet.gov.tm.
This year’s creative competition celebrates the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Eurasian Union of Writers. The national stage is being organized by the country’s Ministry of Culture. Original fiction stories on any topic that have not previously been published in print and have not won prizes in other competitions are eligible to participate.
The prize fund is distributed as follows: first place will receive 45,000 Turkish lira, while second and third place will receive 25,000 and 15,000 Turkish lira, respectively. A consolation prize of 10,000 lira is also provided.
Submissions will be accepted until July 31 in both electronic and printed formats. Along with the text of their work, authors must send a short biography, photo, passport information, and contact information to sanly-medeniyet@sanly.tm.
