Turkmenistan has become part of a new multimodal transport corridor that will ensure faster and more efficient delivery of cargo from China to Afghanistan.
According to JSC UztemirYulKonteyner, containers travel approximately 7400 kilometers on average in 30 days along the updated route, significantly optimizing transit times and increasing the resilience of logistics chains.
Under the new scheme, cargo is shipped by rail from China via the Altynkol station in Kazakhstan, then transits through Uzbekistan to JSC UztemirYulKonteyner’s Bukhara logistics hub. At this point, the containers are transferred to road transport.
Delivery then proceeds through Turkmenistan to the Afghan city of Herat, forming a single multimodal route utilizing rail and road infrastructure.
Previously, shipments along this route were primarily carried out by sea through the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, followed by overland delivery to Afghanistan. The new transport corridor will reduce delivery times, increase logistics predictability, and strengthen regional trade and transport links.
