Sumitomo Rubber Industries (Dunlop) and Fujitsu announced a major manufacturing breakthrough in their joint development of an AI “surrogate model” powered by Graph Neural Network (GNN) algorithms. Traditionally, structural analysis for designing tires required multiple iterative testing and engineering cycles. By feeding Dunlop’s proprietary structural and material data into Fujitsu’s AI platform, they managed to predict complex tire performance metrics with high accuracy while reducing analysis time by roughly 90%. The companies plan to scale this to cutting-edge 2-nanometer processor architectures by the end of the year to optimize power efficiency.
