The Global Peace Photo Award has announced a record-breaking year for its 2026 edition, receiving a total of 27,846 images from photographers across 119 countries. The high volume of submissions—with the strongest participation coming from India, followed by the USA, China, Italy, and Germany—underscores the growing international interest in visual storytelling centered on the theme, “What does peace look like?”
Currently, an international panel of judges is reviewing the entries to curate the final selection. Organizers have confirmed that the shortlist of entries and notifications for winners will be released on 24 July, ahead of the official award ceremony scheduled for 24 September in Vienna.
Public Exhibition in Austria
In conjunction with the ongoing evaluation process, the Schütz Art Museum is hosting a special exhibition of previous winning works throughout July and August. In partnership with the municipality of Engelhartszell and the “Festival La Gacilly Baden Photo,” the open-air display features 40 large-format photographs. Installed in front of the museum and along the avenue leading to Engelszell Abbey, the exhibition is free to the public and accessible 24 hours a day.
This collection continues the award’s tradition of touring globally, having previously been showcased in venues ranging from the Austrian Parliament in Vienna to cities in Italy, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates.
