From July 19 to August 1, four French language teachers from Turkmenistan completed a teaching internship in Nice. The internship was organized by the Francophonia educational platform and was organized by the Fonds Équipe France program of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and coordinated by the French Institute in Turkmenistan.
The participants included one teacher from Magtymguly Turkmen State University and three teachers from the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. The internship program builds on a successful project implemented in the summer of 2025, during which four more teachers from Turkmenistan completed training in Nice. This initiative reflects France’s commitment to supporting the development of French language teaching in Turkmenistan’s higher education system.
Over the course of two weeks, the internship participants completed an intensive course combining theoretical classes and practical seminars on methods for teaching French as a foreign language. The teachers were introduced to modern pedagogical tools and innovative educational approaches, which will allow them to expand their professional repertoire. The program placed particular emphasis on practice-oriented formats: in particular, three open-air classes were held dedicated to the history and cultural heritage of Nice. This approach allowed the participants to explore original educational methods firsthand. Furthermore, the internship included intercultural evenings, which facilitated the exchange of experiences with teachers from different countries and the strengthening of professional and cultural ties.
The key goal of the internship is not only to improve the teachers’ qualifications but also to develop the teaching of French in higher education institutions in Turkmenistan. Complete immersion in the linguistic and cultural environment allowed the participants to gain a deeper understanding of French culture. Teachers will be able to pass on their acquired experience to their students, developing a modern and vibrant understanding of the French language and culture.
