Meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government Held

​Under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held.
​The meeting, where Turkmenistan was represented on behalf of its Government by Hojamyrat Geldimyradow, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, was attended by Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus; Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic; Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Olzhas Bektenov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kohir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan; and Sergey Lebedev, Secretary General of the CIS. ​During the meeting, cooperation ties within the CIS framework in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed.
​The participants reviewed agendas on digitizing the mining and metallurgical industries, strengthening transport connectivity, developing radionavigation systems, as well as fostering mutual cooperation in geoinformation technologies and spatial data systems. Furthermore, the CIS Strategy for Congress and Exhibition Activities for the period up to 2030 was approved.
​Capital cities and candidate nominations for the CIS Youth Capital for 2027 and 2028 were considered during the session. As a result, the city of Minsk (Belarus) was declared the CIS Youth Capital for 2027, and the city of Karaganda (Kazakhstan) for 2028.
​It was announced at the Ashgabat summit that the next regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government is planned to be held in Moscow in December this year.
​During that upcoming meeting, participants are expected to assess the interim results of the implementation of decisions adopted in Ashgabat, as well as discuss further development of economic, transport, technological, and humanitarian cooperation across the Commonwealth.
​As per tradition, the meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of Government serve as a primary platform for aligning joint projects, strengthening interstate relations, and developing new vectors of integration interaction among the member states of the Commonwealth.
