Turkmenistan has made a name for itself on the international education stage. At the global round of the prestigious Copernicus Mathematical Olympiad, held in Singapore from June 22 to 27, the Turkmen team’s debut resulted in a phenomenal triumph, according to the country’s International Information Center.
Having bested competitors from more than 13 countries, our students brought home a full set of six awards: one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.
Ayjeren Mukhametnazarova from the Belent Bilim Educational Center in Mary emerged as the true hero of the competition. She won the top award, and also became the overall winner in the fifth category of the tournament, taking home the gold medal and the Olympiad’s special prize for the best result.
The team’s success demonstrated the high level of preparation of students across the country. Davut Mukhammetnazarov from the Belent Bilim Center in Mary, Geldimyrat Saryev won silver medals from Ashgabat School No. 135, and Emirmuhammet Sabyrov from School No. 35 in Khazar. The Copernicus Olympiad is known worldwide for its challenging tasks, requiring participants to demonstrate profound logic, critical thinking, and flexibility in solving complex problems. Turkmenistan’s first participation in the global round demonstrated that young mathematicians are capable of competing equally with the world’s strongest competitors, and the experience gained in Singapore opens up bright prospects for future professional growth.
