U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in mid-October, leading a business delegation of more than 100 American companies.
This was announced by the US Special Presidential Envoy for South and Central Asia and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore. “I am proud to announce that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead a historic business delegation of more than 100 American companies to Samarkand in mid-October to advance the strategic partnership between the US and Central Asia and strengthen bilateral diplomatic and trade cooperation,” UzDaily quotes Gore as saying.
During his visit, Rubio will participate in the C5+1 Foreign Ministerial Meeting, which will include the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The agenda will include developing the U.S. strategic partnership with Central Asia, expanding trade and investment, and regional cooperation.
