On October 1, a meeting was held at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan between members of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and members of the delegation led by Dainius Varnas, Chair of the Lithuania–Turkmenistan Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the further development of friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, with particular emphasis on interparliamentary relations.

During the meeting, the guests were briefed on the main directions of the foreign policy pursued by Turkmenistan under the leadership of the Esteemed President and based on the principles of positive neutrality, peacefulness, trust, equality and humanism, as well as on the structure of the national Parliament and the ongoing efforts to provide legislative support for large-scale socio-economic reforms being implemented in various spheres.  The significance of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution “2028 — International Year of International Law,” initiated by Turkmenistan, was also emphasized, particularly in enhancing the role of international law worldwide, strengthening effective interstate cooperation and ensuring global peace.

The guests noted the strong interest of the Republic of Lithuania in further strengthening bilateral relations with Turkmenistan in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, as well as interparliamentary spheres. In this regard, it was emphasized that cooperation in the “Central Asia–European Union” format provides broad opportunities for developing political dialogue among the countries of the region, as well as transport and logistics corridors.

During the discussion, particular emphasis was placed on the fact that interparliamentary dialogue has become an important component of the cooperative relations between the two countries, while the interparliamentary friendship groups established on a bilateral basis provide increased opportunities for exchanging experience in legislative activities.
