On April 27, the General Meeting of the Council of Trade Unions of Central Asian Countries was held in Tashkent. Following the meeting, the organization was transformed into a fully-fledged Confederation. A delegation from the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan participated in the forum, reaffirming its commitment to regional integration.
Participants noted the significant contribution of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan to building a constructive dialogue in the region. The relationship between the presidents of the two countries, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, serves as a strategic foundation for developing partnership. One of the practical results of this cooperation was the creation of the Shavat-Dashoguz border free trade zone.
The Turkmen side emphasized that interaction between trade union organizations in the region has acquired a new quality in recent years. A key milestone in this process was the trade union leaders’ forum held in April 2025 in Ashgabat. The Tashkent meeting served as a continuation of those agreements and a platform for exchanging best practices in labor relations and social protection.
Concluding their participation in the forum, representatives of Turkmenistan reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of neutrality and equal partnership, calling on countries in the region to maintain unity in the face of global challenges.
