On 14 April 2026, a side event entitled “Excellence in Public Service Delivery to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals” was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York within the framework of the United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum, as reported by the education.gov.tm. The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) jointly with the State Agency organized the event for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In accordance with the programme of the working visit to New York, the delegation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan participated in this side event. The Turkmen side was represented by the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations (New York, United States of America), Mr. Vepa Segsengeldiyevich Hajiyev, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
The participation of the Turkmen delegation in this international event served as yet another indication of Turkmenistan’s strong commitment to promoting constructive international cooperation, modernizing the system of public administration, improving the quality of public services, and advancing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the side event, participants discussed important issues related to improving public service delivery mechanisms, strengthening trust in public institutions, and enhancing the openness, accountability, and inclusiveness of public administration. Particular attention was also given to the importance of effective and citizen-oriented public services in advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
According to the programme of the event, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan delivered opening remarks to the United Nations, Mr. Tofig Musayev, representatives of UN DESA, and Ms. Dima Al-Khatib, Director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation. The main session featured presentations devoted to the quality criteria of public services, as well as to the experience of applying the ASAN Service Index in assessing the effectiveness of public services. In addition, a roundtable discussion was held with the participation of high-level representatives of several states and international experts.
The participation of the Turkmen delegation in this event was of particular importance in the context of improving public administration, studying advanced international experience, and further promoting effective cooperation aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
