The 4th International Open Internet Olympiad in Informatics was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas on April 15-16, as reported by the education.gov.tm.
793 students from 57 universities in 16 countries participated, including Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, Germany, Romania, Malaysia, Georgia, Turkey, Armenia, Saudi Arabia, and Libya.
Faculty and students attended the opening ceremony from the Turkmen university. Representatives from foreign universities also joined the event online. Rector B. Atamanov delivered a welcoming address.
Following the ceremony, participants began working on assignments. The Olympiad was held individually. Students were given 10 problems on algorithmic programming, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. They were given 120 minutes to complete them.
Students from the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, the Institute of National Security of Turkmenistan, and the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan won prizes in the competition.
Participants from international universities also demonstrated strong results. Among the winners were representatives from the K.I.Satpayev National Research Technical University, Bukhara State University, the Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University, and other educational institutions.
The winners were determined based on their total scores using national software developed by the university. Team results were also announced. The winners
received first-, second-, and third-degree diplomas.
The organizers noted the improvement in the level of digital education and student training. The Olympiad is being held for the fourth year in a row and serves as a platform for the selection and development of young specialists in computer science.
